How do courses work?

Courses are one type of content found on the RadioShack Learning Center. Courses include two to six lessons as well as assignments and quizzes and require enrollment. While the course is running, you may interact with your fellow students and your instructor via the course Message Board.

1. Choosing a course

Click a course title to find out more about a course that interests you.

The course overview page includes a course description, begin and end dates, a list of lessons and an introduction to the instructor.

2. Enrolling

You need to enroll in a course to access the lessons, Message Board and other great features.

To enroll, click Enroll next to the course title that interests you. If you are prompted to log in, complete the registration process if you are a new user, or log in if you are a returning user.

3. Course lessons, assignments and quizzes

RadioShack Learning Center courses have two to six lessons, an assignment and a quiz. Lessons for a specific course are listed at the bottom of the course overview page. Assignments are optional exercises that help you apply the concepts discussed in the lessons. Quizzes are optional short tests to help you check your understanding of the material that you just covered in the lesson.

All lessons are available while the course is running and remain accessible 24/7 until the course end date.

4. Instructors

RadioShack Learning Center online courses instructors are award-winning authors, technology leaders and professionals who really enjoy teaching and interacting with students about topics in their field.

You can use the Message Board to get help from your instructor or converse with other students about the topics covered in the course.

5. Reminders

When you enroll in a course, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your enrollment was successful. You will also receive an e-mail 6 days before a course ends to remind you to complete any lessons you haven't finished.

What is the advantage of taking an online course instead of a regular course or even buying a book to learn more?

As with a traditional course, an online course uses a collection of lessons, assignments, and quizzes to help you learn, as well as an instructor to guide your learning, but it is up to you to determine the time and place you attend a class. You can take an online course when it is convenient for you, rather than organizing your schedule around class time. You also get personalized feedback from the instructor and the opportunity to chat with other students to gain more insight and information about the subjects that interest you.
